SUPPORT MY CHALLENGE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR BLIND LOW VISION NZ GUIDE DOGS

I've gone barking mad, and I'm taking part in the PAWGUST challenge to raise funds for Blind Low Vision NZ Guide Dogs.

Rain, hail or shine, this August, I will be pounding the pavement!

Did you know it costs in excess of $50,000 to breed, raise and train just ONE Guide Dog?! With thousands of dogs being trained each year, every dollar counts. I need your help so that together, we can create a world where everyone who needs a Guide Dog has a Guide Dog.

Please make a donation to support my challenge today. Every bit counts.

My Updates

Check in!

Hey Team!

The first weekend was a little hard to get out and about since my partner and I had to tackle some well overdue tasks. But since it was all dog related I have counted that towards the goal. We ended up getting a bunch of supplies to dog proof the yard - so lots of walking around bunnings and mitre 10 trying to find the right supplies. And then walking around home trying to figure out how to best tackle the job since Chev is a houdini! So we came up with a plan and then ended up having to go back into town a few more times for more supplies. lots of walking around without the houdini himself and lots of walking around at home with him dog proofing but it benefitted him in the long run.

Today we went for a short walk on the farm, since chev was a little sore and I have been battling a headache so neither of us felt like climbing into the car and going for a walk.

tomorrow might be a walk without Mr Chev depending on how his legs are feeling tomorrow. He is an old man, having just turned 12 so if he needs to have a rest day he will have a rest day and i can go do some walks where dogs are not allowed!

I knew we might be pushing it with walking every day this month, especially when your dog is 12 years old and sometimes has days where he acts like hes a puppy and other days where he acts his age and is slow and tired. So as i said in the above paragraph, if he looks like he needs a rest day he can have a rest day and i can do some other walks!

Currently our totals for the month are:
11kms walked, 102 minutes walked and 18,306 steps!

our targets are
60km walked and 930 minutes walked. we are definitely on our way to hitting targets and I have a few more long walks planned for a weekend that my partner is off so we can go on them together (Chev probably wont be coming on one of these walks unless i confirm that it is dog friendly)

see you in the next update!

First walk done and dusted!

First walk of Pawgust is done and dusted!

I decided that the beach would be nice and quiet for a first walk to get us started for the month.

We walked 2.97km, 5,113 steps (mine not chevs!) and the walk lasted65 minutes.

Proud of chev for being on his best behaviour for the first walk and im excited to make even more memories with him as the month progresses!!

To all the donors who have donated - we appreciate you! We hit our target last night so we are super grateful that we have people standing behind us suppawting us! We appreciate it and im sure everyone at Blind Low Vision NZ is as well!

Onwards and Upwards!
